Advice
- Use our WordPress plugin‘s “Use a green host” recipe to check if you your site is running on a green host. You can also check your host directly on the Green Web Foundation’s website.
- Choose a host that is located near your target audience. If your visitors live mostly in Asia but your host is located in Europe, it costs more energy for your data to travel this long distance compared to if your host was located in Asia.
- If your target audience is located in different places all around the world and if you have lots of website traffic, a content delivery network (CDN) might be more sustainable.
- Use the latest PHP version. PHP 7.x can be about twice as fast as PHP 5.x.
